Ash Wednesday Services with Harbor – February 18

Ash Wednesday with Harbor – February 18

We begin the season of Lent together on Wednesday, February 18, as we join our Harbor community for Ash Wednesday services in the Harbor sanctuary.

You are invited to attend either:

  • 12:30pm – Midday Ash Wednesday Service
  • 6:30pm – Full Ash Wednesday Service

Both services will include the imposition of ashes — that ancient, holy act of tracing a cross on our foreheads and hearing the words:
“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Ash Wednesday is not about shame.
It is not about groveling.
It is about truth.

It is about remembering who we are — fragile and beloved. Finite and held. Human and deeply loved by God.

Lent is a 40-day journey (not counting Sundays) that invites us into reflection, repentance, renewal, and deeper grounding in love, mercy, and justice. It’s a season to slow down. To pay attention. To release what numbs us. To return to what matters.

At SALT, we often talk about identity first. Before we do anything, before we fix anything, before we prove anything — we remember who we are.

Ash Wednesday begins there.

We mark our bodies with ashes not as a sign of despair, but as a sign of belonging. We belong to God. We belong to one another. We belong even in our vulnerability.

Whether you come at 12:30 or 6:30, come as you are.
Come weary.
Come hopeful.
Come questioning.
Come grounded.
Come curious.

This is the doorway into Lent. And we will walk it together.
